- Popularity: I've been writing about beauty advent calendars for the past 10+ years, I know the ones that create a buzz with shoppers. Often the biggest launches in the advent calendar period have waiting lists for fans from August to launch date.
- Price: All the advent calendars I'll mention in this feature are worth a lot more than the RRP price. We don't want you to spend your hard-earned money on rubbish, so I will only feature the advent calendars that I think are worth the money. Only buy if you think you will use everything inside or you think the person you are gifting it to will use everything inside.
- Star quality: An advent calendar is basically a festive ornament in your home for at least 12 days in December so I want to feature the ones that are beautiful and preferably reusable.
Over the years beauty advent calendars have evolved, the competition is even more fierce and the cost of living crisis definitely impacted this category over the past few years as well. It's never been harder to get people to part with their hard-earned cash. I'll be reaching out to my fellow insiders for their intel on what to expect this year.
Are beauty advent calendars still popular?
Let's talk numbers! Last year, a Klarna survey revealed chocolate advent calendars reign as the most popular with 64% of female UK shoppers, but beauty advent calendars had 23% of female shoppers wanting to buy one this year. A whopping 63% said advent calendars add to the excitement of the festive period, with 12% claiming an advent calendar is the best type of Christmas gift as you get 25 gifts in one! We couldn't agree more.

Full-size products are BIG news
I'm sorry, but after years of having tiny sachets or the slightly better 'deluxe' samples in our advent calendars, I'm pleased to report that 2025 sees a lot more full-size products within the offerings this year. The Liberty advent calendar has 20 full-size products out of the 30 inside and that's definitely a step in the right direction if you ask me.
Single-brand calendars are more popular than ever
I do love a multi-brand beauty advent calendar but it can result in getting products that aren't right for you. I think single-brand calendars will be huge this year - bigger than ever before, and I'm excited. No one knows their shoppers better, and I think you'll find you'll get a lot more bang for your buck if you're already a fan of the brand in the first place. My personal top pick could well be the Sculpted by Aimee beauty advent calendar.
12-day beauty advent calendars reign supreme
They're a little bit cheaper and they don't clutter up your house all month long. I'm a fan of the 12-day countdown. Personally, I'd prefer to buy two different 12-day countdowns in two totally different categories. Make your daily advent work best for you. Charlotte Tilbury's beauty advent calendar gets my vote!
