Christian Horner the husband of Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell Horner, is about to see a large increase in his net worth, according to reports that state the former Red Bull F1 President is to receive a whopping £80 million payout after being let go by the organisation. The 51-year-old released a statement on Monday, announcing his departure from his role, which he has held since 2005. The dad of two was dismissed by the company and replaced by Laurent Mekies back in July, 17 months after he was accused by a female colleague of "inappropriate behaviour". He was twice cleared of the claims by the team's parent company, Red Bull GmBH. The female complainant was suspended on full pay, and an appeal by the complainant was also later dismissed. Christian denied the accusations throughout.
Since being let go, Christian, who had a contract until 2030, remained an employee until a settlement was reached. In a statement on Monday, Christian said that leading Red Bull had been "an honour and a privilege". He added: "My biggest satisfaction has been assembling and leading the most amazing group of talented and driven individuals and seeing them flourish as a subsidiary of an energy drinks company and seeing them take on and beat some of the biggest automotive brands in the world." Red Bull is yet to confirm the exact figures of Christian's settlement. The Times reported that Christian will receive over £80 million for his departure, and he will be expected to serve a period of gardening leave before taking up a role with another F1 team, which he could do from the middle of next season if he gets an offer.
